Questions about Cordes expansion tank
For anyone that has installed the Cordes expansion tank in the engine bay, how do you like it?
How was the fit? I heard that the rain diverter needs to be removed but can it be trimmed and still used? I was my car every 2 weeks and dont want to do rinseless/waterless. Any complications with the system such as bleeding air out? Does it help with bleeding? Is the capacity a noticeable benefit? Any recommendations for somethings else if this is not ideal? |

Have you considered the plastic option? I was going to avoid it because it looks like it could be in a position to get too hot, but a home brew heat shield might do the trick.
The cordes does look mich better IMO |

I’ve thought about the edelbrock reservoir but the cordes holds a bit more capacity. I don’t want to do a trunk tank since the car will be at the track maybe 4 times a year.

I've got the Cordes tank in mine. It does solve the issue of being able to purge the system of air without having to use a special or makeshift tool.
You do have to remove the rain diverter but that can be easily modified to allow room for the tank- I've marked mine but haven't cut it as I don't drive in the rain and I use waterless wash stuff. You only need to remove a corner of the rain diverter, it's not much. As for the capacity providing any benefit - think it would be difficult to either measure or prove/disprove. Logic would dictate that it provides a little benefit (may take a little longer to heat soak) but, again, difficult to prove. I decided to go this route because my catch can mounts in the same location that the plastic version would and the Cordes tank frankly looks better, IMHO. |

Bump! Looking at an expansion tank . Cordes or the big3? I do have the strut tower brace not sure if the big3 racing tank would clear that? Any thoughts or real time experiences??

My Cordes tank is mounted in the front by the radiator. So far so good. I’ve never used it myself to purge but the shop that did my build used it and said it worked great. It does add capacity but not really a bunch.

CRP is very respected, I know a lot of top shops installing his tanks (as well as many other things). They're good units. As said, they'll be able to answer any questions with ease.
