The Father of 5th and 6th Gen
I’m at the Automotive Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Ran into Ed Wellburn. He parked his 1st gen Camaro Convertible in the GM Design studio and told his team to create a modern version of it. That’s how 5th gen came to be.
I also got a photo next to Chase Elliot’s #9 Camaro, next to a model who was wearing Chase’s actual race suit and helmet.

Nice, James.
Your explanation makes a lot of sense. Norm

Wow! What a great day for you sir. I've seen a few different TV interviews with Mr. Wellburn and I'm very intrigued by his ability to express his vision. If not for his Camaro designs I still would be a "Nothin' new past '72" guy. I'm sure GM has similar individuals rising through the current ranks but as in the '80s they are taking the company in a direction that I just don't find appealing. Just happy I was able to jump on board with the current modern muscle, may not see these types of vehicles (that still have a connection to the past) ever again.
