GM Cold Air Intake

Anyone running the GM Cold Air intake? I am thinking of picking one up but not sure if it is worth it or not. If anyone is running it on their car what are your guys thoughts?

I'm running it. seems to work well. I am not about to go out and buy another to test otherwise. My biggest reason was the emissions legal in all states but cali.

It is 50 STATE LEGAL, I am running the intake in California... It comes with a CARB sticker...

I've been very happy with it, sounds great and looks great, first thing everyone points to when I open the hood...

I had mine put on when I got the car. No complaints and I think the key selling feature is the appearance. Looks clean and sharp

I guess i didn't pay attention. I figured it was illegal like everything else in this world when it comes to cali.

also that it doesn't void the warranty as well if i'm not mistaken.

That is correct, warranty stays intact.

I also went with the GM Air Intake over the Roto-Fab. The Roto-Fab takes up way to much room and doesn't look clean in my opinion. The GM one is nice and compact.

It's supposedly based on the Cold Air Induction unit, but with some subtle differences which is why the GM CAI needs a tune(included with the intake).

Power gain is not large, it's about 10~15 WHP/WTQ from what I have seen, so probably 15~20 BHP/BTQ. It supposedly helps with the throttle response which is what I am after. There is also auditory and visual improvement, too.

I got mine and it's sitting in my room at the moment. I will install it at the end of February.

16" by 16" by 12".

It's a bigger box than I imagined.

I love mine but have nothing to compare it to as it was already installed and listed on the sticker when I bought my SS. It was the 1st thing I noticed when I popped the hood to take a look when I was checking-out the car. I think it looks cool and adds to the the engine compartment.

I just ordered one from Eagle Chevrolet in NY - hope it comes through; they've got it for a pretty good price (lots cheaper than what my local dealer could do).

As far as I can tell, this intake gives 0 performance benefit - I'm just in it for that sweet induction noise. If anybody's got a dyno sheet to prove otherwise, I'd love to see it.

Not huge gains, about 16 WHP/WTQ, but not 0.
