Is that car actually a SS 1LE ?

So I test drove this 2018 Camaro SS today which is fully debadged. It has a lot of options that are only available to the 1LE, but it's also missing certain options that I thought every 1LE had. I'm in Canada

What it does have:
-Black satin hood
-Black mirrors
-1LE rims
-285/305 tire setup
-6/4 piston 1LE Brembo brakes
-HUD
-Suede flat bottom steering wheel
-suede wrapped shift knob
-active rev-match

What it doesn't have
-Spoiler
-Front splitter
-Performance data recorder
-Recaro seats

Things I don't know if it does have
-Electronic LSD
-Magnetic ride control

So is this car a real SS 1LE ? I haven't found any pictures of a 1LE without the spoiler and splitter so I think this is strange.

Easiest way would be to check PTM mode. If it doesn’t have the eLSD then it’s not a 1LE. Seems like with the HUD it is though. I don’t believe you can get HUD on a 1SS but Canada could be different.

This car is not a real 1LE; it’s an SS with a few 1LE parts, all of which are available from a Chevy dealer or a GM parts supplier. A true 2018 1SS or 2SS with the 1LE package should have all of these parts, with a possible change or two for the Canadian market:

*Satin Black hood wrap
*Black front splitter
*Black outside rearview mirrors
*Black rear blade spoiler
*Satin Graphite 20" forged-aluminum wheels with Goodyear® Eagle® F1 SuperCar 3 285/30R20 front and 305/30R20 rear, summer-only tires
*Brembo® 6-piston monobloc front 2-piece rotors and 4-piston rear calipers, 4-wheel antilock disc brakes
*Red calipers with 1LE logo
*Performance-tuned suspension with unique bushings, springs and stabilizer bars
*Dual-mode exhaust
*Magnetic Ride Control
*Electronic Limited-Slip Differential (eLSD)
*RECARO® performance front bucket seats
*Suede-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel and shift knob
*Head-Up Display on 1SS (standard on 2SS)

Regarding the badging, there are no 1LE badges on a 1LE-equipped SS - just the SS and Camaro badges.

As one of the posts suggested, the easiest way to check would be to verify if the car has PTM. Press the Drive Mode button by the shifter and see if Tour, Sport, Track modes display on the centre dash. If so, select Track and double click TC button above the Mode button by the shifter. If you see PTM modes displayed (wet, dry, sport1 sport2, race) than the car is a 1LE. If not, it isn't.
Good luck!

Thank you, I will verify that today !

Check the RPO label.

A1Y is the SS 1LE option package.

You can also go to the performance options in the center gauge cluster and scroll through, there is a screen for eLSD. Almost guaranteed it is not a real SS 1LE as Recaros are standard on SS 1LE.

This is what I was going to suggest. It's a bit more definitive than trying the double tap for PTM as well because you can time that wrong and get a poor set of data.

You stated that it's a "2018 Camaro SS" but didn't list specific items to identify whether it might actually be a 2SS as opposed to a 1SS.

Does it have leather seats? That, combined with presence of the HUD, could make it a 2SS that's been reworked.

RPO codes are likely your best bet here as a 2SS will have PTM as well - check near where they spare would be in the trunk, under the carpeted cover.

I would take a guess that it is not a 1LE.

My Canadian SS 1LE has everything listed here.

As others said, this is very likely an SS with some 1LE parts, but not a 1LE.

Why would someone go through the trouble of wrapping the hood, mirrors, swapping the brakes and buying 1LE wheels, etc on a "standard" SS? Might as well buy the real thing.

There are loads of reasons. Maybe they wanted the car optioned as an SS and then decided to change the look. Maybe it was a cost thing. Maybe it was an availability thing.

Who knows?

I see a lot of automatic 1le clones. A lot of guys who can't/wouldn't drive manual in my area that wanted a 1le and that look.
