Locking in Track/TC mode

Couldn't find a post on this specifically. I am frustrated with the location of the mode and TC buttons. When grabbing a 2-3 shift at redline I frequently bump the traction control button, and then I'm in full nanny. One time I was even sent back to touring mode! I notice almost immediately, but by then I've blown the lap and have to mess with the controls. Anyone else have this problem or is it just my big gorilla mitts? Wondering about a way to lock into the mode, or install a cover over the buttons, etc. Any thoughts?

Cool solution above, but I think you found the real problem, your gorilla mitts...haha jk, I probably just don’t drive hard enough ...

Thanks for that - I searched the road course subforum since I figured that's where the issue may have been posted. Didn't get a single hit for keyword "traction" - don't know how that's possible. Gonna assume user error.

I also hit mine on track from time to time, I badly just need to make a cover for it.

I think if you keep your wrist straight then I think you can't hit the switch or the button. Is it possible you angle your hand up somehow so that your wrist makes contact?

My C5 has a custom elevated shifter, the way a racecar should be, so I don't have to spend too much time with only one hand on the wheel. This car has a stubby shifter, so when I go to grab it for a quick 2-3 shift, I sometimes slam my palm up against the console, pretty sure that's how it happens. If I think about it I can avoid it, but there's already a lot to think about on track.

Any chance of adding a short extension piece to your Camaro's shift lever?

Still a daily driver, so trying to keep all the track mods hidden. I fabricated a temp solution, wasn't that tough really and seems to do the job.
