Premium gas or regular
I’m currently putting regular gas on my vehicle but I want to change to premium but I don’t know how to do it. And or if it’s safe. Do I wait until it’s on low gas?
Which gas do you use on your vehicle? |

87 octane is regular. I’m tuned for 91 so I use premium.

I’m trying to switch gas because the check engine turns on every time I put gas on it and drive for a long time. So I’m trying to switch up if that will help with the sensors. I put reg on my vehicle. But I’m trying to switch to a different. But not sure which I should to and if it’s safe

Yes it's safe. You can just add it when ever. It will mix in and after a couple fill ups it will be straight what ever octane your buying.

why not stop by a local auto parts store when the light goes on and get the error code?then you can give us the code number and get a better idea of whats going on.

I always recommend people run 91 or 93 in their v6. The high-octane map is much better tuned to that car. But run regular if you want.
Regardless of the octane you run, frequent oil changes are good since it's a direct-injection and fuel dilution of the oil is a concern.

My v6 runs much better on 93. Dealer says you can go to 5k miles on oil changes but by 3500 miles my oil is wasted with fuel and needs kachanging.

93? Would that be regular? I’m currently putting 87 reg. Would a v6 runs better on 93 or it really doesn’t matter?

personally Ive been running 93 in both my V6's
The Fuel Maps adjust for pinging, so the car pulls a lot of timing on 87

Or it could be something else. But whatever it is, you're not going to fix it by spending money on premium gas. You have to bite the bullet and go to a good repair shop or dealer. Cheaper in the long run. |

93 would be premium or in some places ultra premium. Yes in reality 93 would give better performance, would you actually notice? Maybe. But over all your computer will adjust for the fuel you are using.
