8L45 Class Action

Is there anybody in Canada that has purchased a GM product between 2016 and 2019 and has had, or is having problems with their 8L45 or 8L60 transmission in their vehicles that has not been repaired or resolved to their satisfaction by GM CANADA? If so, please contact me with the specifics of your problem and consider bringing a class action suit against GM Canada

What is going to be the result of the lawsuit?

A. New Transmission
B. New Car
C. New Torque Converter
Or we all share 72.95 US Dollars in 10 years.....

By the time the case is presented to the courts/appeals and a judge makes a ruling if in fact in the buyers favour all warranties will be long gone. Judge will fine GM and award $100 in a discount towards a new GM Vehicle and a free oil change only if you still have the Camaro that was bought new not used.

Meanwhile the lawyer firm will get 10+ million for winning the case.

Class Action lawsuits never go anywhere that makes a difference. It’s always the each person gets $10.82 in 10 years. GM isn’t going to do anything about the Trans issues. To properly fix the issue and recall would bankrupt GM. They went to A10’s on 19 SS’s so that was their fix. They aren’t going to replace transmissions or anything else, unless it’s their service bulletin under the 3yr/36k.

Sadly, the only thing a class action does is cause GM to hunker down and not address the issue, so they can prep for a fight in the courts. The lawyers get nearly half the eventual payout, so the larger the class action pool, the more the lawyer gets and smaller portion to the plaintiffs.

Again, GM stops all attempts to solve the issue themselves (save any goodwill lost) because that would be an admission of guilt and would hurt their defense. The only benefit I can think of is for future GM buyers won't have the defect in their cars. But how does that help the ones with the defect now??

I encourage everyone to avoid joining a class action, ever.
