CAR WENT KABOOM

Last night I was on the freeway traveling normal speed (65-70mph) and the car just lost power and I heard terrible (metal on metal) noises from the engine bay so I immediately shut the engine off and coasted to shoulder. I take the car to the dealer for every oil change every 3k miles. There was oil on the ground. Not a lot, but any amount, I guess is a lot. Car has 57k miles on never raced it or tracked it. Still under extended warranty with Ally (supposedly GMs warranty sister company) The car only has CAI and Catback. I was days away from ditching the warranty and installing the LSA, LT, DOD VVT DELETE, CAM swap. The heat exchanger was on back order at Juiced Motorsports. So maybe this is a blessing in disguise? Any advice on the dealing with the dealer? I will be taking off the CAI before it goes to dealer later. Just wanted to check with you guys first for any advice or suggestions. Thanks Guys

More then likely oil pump failure. You should get a new engine for what ever your deductible is. Put factory airbox back in and take it to the dealer. They have had a lot oil pump failures.

Most of the time they just get a crate engine and replace it.

prob lost oil pressure, spun a bearing and it chucked the rod, dollars to donuts what you see in the intake manifold is pieces of piston that made it past the valve during the pop. new motor time.

Any idea what might have caused it? Or how to avoid that on the new motor?

Broke a valve spring and dropped a valve.

Broke a rocker or lifter.

Spun a rod bearing.

Broke the camshaft; yeah.....it can happen while just cruising...….etc, etc.

In other words.....it could be one of maybe a dozen things that ALL fall under the category of 'shit happens'.
