Might join the ZL1 ranks

With the 0% financing offer I'm toying with the idea of upgrading to a ZL1.

Mind you I don't NEED to upgrade, I like my SS but I should have waiting to buy a ZL1 instead of buying the SS and modding it. I'm hoping to break even on the SS aside from taking a hit on the mods(but we all know that happens).

Question for you guys. What's a good price on a new one A10 with a sunroof? I don't exactly trust dealerships lol

Also, is the depreciation as bad as the lesser models? I was shocked to see how bad the SS' dropped in value. Obviously any new cars isn't an investment but with the 0% financing and hopefully less of a depreciation rate I'd come out ahead in the long run(and by ahead I don't mean to make $$ but to owe way less than value).

Thanks guys!

Good luck. My suggestion is to read some of the latest threads about people trying to buy one recently. It should answer all of your questions.

0% financing:

Excludes select base trims. Monthly payment is $11.90 for every $1,000 you finance. Example down payment: 3.7%. Must finance with GM Financial. Some customers may not qualify. Not available with some other offers. Take new retail delivery by 3/31/20.

This apparently means no other incentives or rebates apply, so this isn't such a hot offer IMO. How about picking up a used 2017 or 2018 ZL1 instead?

Also, I don't know how you want to "break even" on the SS sans the mods; if you bought it new, it depreciated a couple grand the moment you drove it off the lot, if you got it used, you will still swallow some depreciation unless you got an absolute smoking deal.

Your Camaro is a 2018 so I'd think your depreciation hit would keep you from trading her. Might even keep you from selling her. For example: mine is a 2019 2SS A10 1LE that's completely loaded. The MSRP was almost $57,000. I paid $50,000 plus tax, title, etc. But according to KBB, the average trade-in for my car right now is $36,680 and the average private party value to sell it myself is $42,356. Now, you've made more payments than I have but as of right now, I'd have roughly $13,000 in negative equity. Not worth it IMO.

I was approved for 0% for 84 months with 750 credit score.
The problem was the Zl1 was still at 67k. Dealership's are not really desperate to sell their Zl1s. I have tried at multiple dealers. I have decided to be patient and put money away for a C8. Good luck on your Zl1 hunt!

Not really worth it for the Camaro. Since you cant apply other discounts or incentives. I considered doing what you are thinking, had the credit for it, but the every dealer I spoke with was asking sticker. With the shutdowns there is indeed only so many available units and the dealerships know that, plus 2020 production has stopped in most cases. So yeah 0% on $75-80k 2019MY Z, no thanks.

My credit union is offering similar payment deferment options and I locked in under 3%, so dollar for dollar its a no brainier.

I bought a used 2017 last March 2019 with 422 miles and checked KBB today and it’s worth between $42 to $43,000 to trade in which I paid around $52,000 with 11,000 miles as of today. So the value of mine has gone down about $10,000 in a year but I have no regrets that I bought it and upgraded from a 2016 2SS. You have to decide Frosty if you want to upgrade or keep your SS but I personally don’t think you will have any regrets if you get a ZL1!

Yeah after thinking about it and no discounts(I didn't realize they weren't applicable) it doesn't make sense at all. I still have a nice car that holds its own...probably going to wait a year or so...see how the economy does...how I do personally and maybe do it then.

I did the upgrade from a 17 1SS and it had 81XX miles on it when I traded up to a 19 ZLE, I have no regerts whatsoever and the power from an LT1 to a LT4 is awesome.
