Hey guys.

My oil change sticker says to change it a bit after 9000 miles (don’t know the exact number right now), I’m currently at around 8100 miles. I’ve recently beat on the engine a bit having some fun and was worried I may have possibly reduced the health of the oil. I know you’re supposed to change your oil every 7500 miles, but is changing it every 5000 miles instead better? What kind of oil do you guys prefer, preferably a “premium” one.

Also, I’ve read something about changing your differential fluid, should I be concerned about that?

I always change mine every 5k miles regardless better safe than sorry, oem filter and oem recommend mobil1 full synthetic

I STRONGLY recommend GM Dexos full synthetic only for the LTG..

Mobil 1 Full Synthetic or the GM Dexos Full Synthetic is fine you can actually find Mobil 1 Full Synthetic GM Dexos Approved fairly easily.

Curious, I am almost at my 10,000 mile oil change and was thinking of using Amsoil. I am tuned running e85 and bolt on's. Do you still recommend GM Dexos?

I put Amsoil signature oil and Amsoil oil filter at 500 miles. And again at 2500 miles. And I will continue every 5000 miles.

The last I knew, Amsoil did not pass the d1G2 LSPI tests because of high ash content. I still only recommend GM Dexos for the LTG.

The big thing to remember (you guys can do your own homework here), is Calcium and Sodium are big contributing factors for LSPI , and Moly is a LSPI repressor. GM spent a lot of money to understand this, and reformatted Dexos to accommodate.

When you say GM, do you mean SPECIFICALLY the ACDelco oil, or can I use Mobil1 too?

You can use anything Mobil1, ACDelco, Pennzoil as long as it's 5w30 really. But GM Dexos Approved is highly recommended for the reasons cooper stated. Like stated the GM Dexos Approved is easy to find has the Dexos Approved logo on the front of the bottle.

I just bought some oil for mine, and noticed a lot more oils have the dexos badge now than i used to see. I change mine every 5k and use a gm delco oil filter and whatever oil is currently on sale that meets dexos requirements

I change mine once it says 20% on the indicator. I don't really care the distance once it says 20 it gets changed.
