A Camaro Convert - Hello!
Hello all!
First, let me start by saying it has always been a dream of mine to own a muscle car. Ever since I knew what a car was I was drawn to the roaring engines, dramatic styling, and big power. That said, it was all about Mustangs for me for the longest while. Frankly, never even glanced in Camaro's direction. But for years, I was stuck in basic econoboxes like my 88 Camry or 02 Taurus. Things picked up a bit with my 05 Corolla, specifically because it was around that time I started tinkering with things. My dad, having been a mechanic for years, was overjoyed when he realized I shared the same fondness as him, not simply for driving fast cars, but for building them in the first place. We took my simple Corolla and built it up. Then I got married... and then several jackasses proceeded to total my Corolla repeatedly in the span of a year. Each time I rebuilt it again, struggling to part with what was my project car for years. But after the third time, I gave in and got rid of it right after. I was still in no position for something particularly fancy, but after renting a Chevy Cruze, a car both my wife and I enjoyed, I decided to buy one. Then, someone decided to hit me in that too. That was when my first Camaro came into the picture. I had gotten hit just before needing to go out of town for work. I was upset, but not terribly so... until I got to the rental company and found out all they had to loan me was a Nissan Versa. I drove off their lot, only to suddenly get a check engine light and feel the transmission shudder. Drove it right back and for my trouble, they stuck me in a red 2019 Camaro convertible. It. Was. Fantastic. So now, almost a year later, and after searching for what I was specifically interested in, I purchased my own. A beautifully black Camaro RS with a V6. Sure, I had to make some concessions (surprisingly difficult to find a V6 RS in my area), but I love it nonetheless. Sure, I tried a few other cars like the Mazda 3, a Ford Ecoboost (engine was nice, disliked the interior), a Toyota 86 (just... nope), etc. Nothing, however, seemed to scratch my itch. You may ask, "Why a V6?" Well, for a few reasons 1. I travel a ton for work. I need something at least mildly fuel-efficient. 2. Insurance costs are crazy high. 3. I prefer the looks of the RS package 4. No V8's available in my area anyway from the 16-18 model years (sorry... I kinda hate the redesign) 5. Because after I fix this sucker up and roll up on someone with a V8, I'm going to love the look on their faces when I smoke em. Used to do that in my sleeper 'Rolla all the time and it never got old. Anyway, both my dad and I are greatly looking forward to working on the car again, just like we did the Corolla back in the day. I am also looking forward to being a part of this community. It's a pleasure to meet you all! |

CONGRATS on the ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5/6. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives', husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

Greetings! You had a lot of good information but I did pick up on the comment that you made about you and dad project. In the end it's all about family I think. My son seems to enjoy getting in with me when I work on the GN. I prefer the 5th generation style to the newer, myself.

Gongrats!
Nothing wrong with a V6 Gen6. Heck, they make more HP than the 90’s LT-1. Enjoy! |
