You make a great point, not sure why I didnt think about those cars which are pretty good competition, albeit without V8 engines.

His take away, if the 1LE had it brakes fully in order and the auto the times could easily flip. But also if the Mach had a track alignment it could easily flip back.
Yeah but Mach 1 being auto plus 315s all around is a huge advantage in my opinion.

My take is that the SS 1LE is the better car and it costs less. Saw a 2022 Mach 1 at a local Ford dealer that was about $63K MSRP. No way that car is worth $15K more than my 2022 1SS 1LE.

I agree. Most of the Mach 1s I've seen are $60k plus too.

You're not wrong in looking at the two cars value that way, Mach1 is crazy overpriced, especially for a "parts-bin" car. But an item's worth is based on what the market will yield.

Also once 2025 rolls around and pony car buyers go out looking for a new car to buy, and the 6th gen leaves the market, that entire paradigm may change substantially with whatever S650 offers vs whatever it's direct competition is left for it.

My buddy is waiting delivery of his Mach 1 with track pack. Crazy amount of money ($67K MSRP) relative to my 2SS 1LE, but he's a Mustang guy. We both track our cars and he knows how well the 1LE handles because we are usually on the track together, but all of that doesn't matter to him.

I suppose another way to look at things is that the Mach 1 is a pretty good performance value when compared to non-Camaro alternatives (used GT350, C8, Caymen, BMW M2, C8). It's just that the SS 1LE is an insane performance value compared to EVERY alternative.

Your buddy is buying a really cool car. As a manual purist who isn't fond of the Voodoo, I think it's the best S550 ever made and I bet your buddy will love it.

That said, at its price and content, I don't think it is a bargain in any way.

Agreed. For what Ford wants for a Mach 1 it out to have the 5.2 motor from the GT350 even if it detuned a bit.

This is how I feel as well. The GT350 had a bespoke engine, only offered in that car.

The Mach 1 on the other hand, is just what the GT PP should have been all along.

And that last part is what I had been saying on the Mustang forum ever since PP2 launched with Cup 2 tires on a car that Ford straight up said “is not a track car”.

To me it doesn’t make sense at all. Maybe the way i m thinking is different. I owned a 15 gtpp mustang with manual and 12 2ss/rs ls3 camaro before. Have no brand name loyalty. To me spending $67 grand on a Mach 1 is ridiculous, because now you are in the price range of a 650 hp ZL1 or ZL1/1LE. I know Ford even detuned the 22+ year cars for emissions and the 5.0s lost 10 hp and lbft out of the box. Why pay more to buy a slower track car or you can even pay alot less and get similar performance from an ss 1le? The remaining money can go into so many track days, tires, brakes, fuel, maintenance etc.

Agreed. When I first saw the price of the Mach 1 I thought I was missing something. I kept looking for something special, still haven't found anything. I guess you have to pay a lot for the Mach 1 name?

I think they took more than 10 hp away from the Mach 1, that or something was wrong with the one C&D recently tested. The latest Car and Driver comparison vs the manual 23 Z test, the M6 Mach 1 went 13.1 at 108 mph. For over 60k you can have a car slightly quicker than a 6th Gen V6 Camaro or a 2002 Camaro SS or Trans Am WS6. Congrats! And out of curiosity I built a Mach 1 premium today with handling package, auto, elite, Nav, and Recaros - didn’t even get the appearance package or a special paint color - and it came out to just under $69k. That was the msrp of my ZL1. Ha!
