A10 reliability

I'm coming from C7 Z06 world where A8's are cratering left and right. I'm considering trading mine off before I have issues and get back into a ZL1.

I noticed there was an issue with fluid overfilling from the factory but not seeing much posted about the A10 except good things.

Hard to say, as it's only been in the wild about a year now, versus several years for the A8. So far, I've only heard of a few converter issues (like the A8, oddly enough).

My FIL blew his at his first private track day and it's still not fixed because of parts issues. Then we add in the cooling problems and all we have left is a really bad ass car that can't be badass

The overfill is easily fixed. The above post it the first one I have seen about any actual damage to an a10. The majority DO NOT have over heating problems. Only a select few have seen that issue while on extended track sessions on hot days. Others beat on them on the track all day long. I struggle to even get mine up tonusual operating temp while out running errands and whatnot.

It may still be too early to know how reliable the A10 is or will be. it has only been out for a short time and then if you factor in the break in period, not sure how many people have had a chance to really "test" it yet. It is just the first year of the application and you would hope as it is brand new that for now it should be fine. As it gets closer to the end of it's warranty period (3+ years old), we'll see how it holds up

lol in 2035 if there are still such things as auto transmissions we’ll still be having this debate! If you are gonna drive like Dale Earnhardt Jr then don’t get an auto. If you’re going to be fetching groceries and driving around town, or doing some spirited driving or light track use, you’ll be fine with the A10.

What debate are you referring to?

You're good to go.

The A10 has a larger TC and l/u clutch.

The early ones with overfill was a human error fluke.

Entire 2019 Camaro line gets the A10.

I drive mine just like I've driven all my Muscle Cars over the years and I have yet to see anything bad with this trans so far at about 5300 miles. The only one thing that I noticed was one day it was 16 degrees outside and it had a difficult time shifting into a lower gear at highway speeds. I expected there to be some issues since that was the first time I drove it in weather to that extreme. But that problem has not happened again and it has been even colder (-5 with windchill yesterday). So I would say it is a pretty reliable trans. I have no worries that it will hold up for years and years and miles and miles to come.

The above post is referring to damage to an A8, not an A10 if I'm reading it correctly. I haven't heard of any reliability issues with this transmission.

Well then, talk about off topic!

I don’t know what FIL means but can’t imagine why someone would complain about an entirely different transmission in an a10 reliability thread.

FIL = father in law (who owns an A8 Z06, albeit a '16 whereas mine is an '18)

^^^This makes absolutely no sense. Some manual enthusiasts are just dead set on saying the auto is no good for the track. This ain't your grandma's A10 and will do fine in all areas.
