TSB 18-NA-355 - After effects
Just recently had the 18-NA-355 service bulletin for my 17 SS A8 and noticing the transmission is acting much better but slightly different? The shudder is gone completely which is awesome but i am noticing the RPMs are idling a bit higher around 1800-2000 rpm in 8th at 65-70 vs 1500ish prior to the TSB.
Other than that I am noting the exhaust isn't as loud as it used to be (can barely hear the crackles/pops even in track mode - although this could be my imagination). I am wondering if they did any tuning updates along with just the mobil 1 fluid swap? All in all glad its shifting smoothly for now - I can at least hold off from going aftermarket for a while until the TC gives out (had the swap around 20k miles so hope I caught it early enough). Anyone else with noticeable differences couple thousand miles out after doing the most recent TSB?? |

Mine seems to have slightly different shift patterns, but it was just very slight.

They probably set the transmission to relearn mode and it is now re-adapting to your driving style (rpm, throttle modulation).
Not sure about the exhaust noise, as far as I know that would require a calibration change, which is not part of this TSB.

I am wondering if they did any tuning updates along with just the mobil 1 fluid swap? Seems like the converter may not be locking up, at least in 8th gear. Can't think of anything that may be causing the difference in exhaust note. Drive the 200miles(or however many miles they told you to drive it). It may be just a relearn issue. If it doesn't change to your liking, take it back in, and voice your concerns. |

Mine was the way, they told me the TCM was reprogrammed/reset and put back into learning mode.

One thing I was noting yesterday - the tach was stuttering back and forth at normal highway speeds on flat roads - found it interesting but no weird vibrations etc when driving. Like you said I'll drive it 200 mi and see how it feels. |

Put a good 400 miles on this weekend ( central Washington to Portland to Seattle) and no issues or shuddering - feels like new car. Now my new problem- trying to save gas lol.
