No-tune Intake

Hello all,

My 2018 ZLE is just about to pass 500 miles! I am wanting to do an intake mostly for the supercharger whine. Power increase would be the cherry on top! As long as I don’t experience any power losses, and do not need to tune I’m all ears!

And also, who offers forum pricing? Go!

Thank you for the very helpful comment sir. I’m sure there are many threads talking about Cold Air Intakes.

I didn’t see any stickied threads and did not feel like scrolling for days. Thought I’d post my own variation of the question.

Rotofab seems to be the go to intake. Phastek Performance has it for 10% off this month with code MD18. https://www.phastekperformance.com/2...ld-air-zl1.htm

Rotofab. Don't expect much power, but the fit and finish is top notch. And the whine and intake sounds are increased.

In a nutshell the general consensus and backed by dyno results is that a CAI makes very little HP improvement and the increased intake sound is also minimal. The majority of guys do this as an improvement in appearance, but at average price of $500-$600, you get very little bang for your buck. You do not need a tune with a CAI, hope that helps.

CAI is a box style intake. So you won't get much whine with that one. RF is an open style and it seems to be the more popular one. Then there's K&N which is pretty decent if not pricey. For now it seems that RF is the best choice.

I am awaiting my CAI by aFe (Momentum GT Pro 5R Cold Air Intake for 2017 6.2L ZL1 Camaro 54-74214), It was on backorder. Should be here tomorrow. I caught it on sale for $429 shipped from LSXceleration.com; but now they're selling it for $474. Will post my opinions after I install it.

I run a Roto-fab. Installation was perfect. It looks like a project if you've never done them before but the directions are incredibly accurate and well planned. I wouldn't buy a ZL1 intake from anyone else. IMO the Cold air Inductions setup looks just as choked as a factory box, might as well cut the bottom of the box like EDFHOBBIES showed. The K&N Carbon one is sweet too but I can't bring myself to put an Auto Zone intake on my ZL1.

You can also remove the sound damper from the lid of the supercharger for a little more noise for free.

I used the money to do more expel and have a better paint correction done. Did not see much of anything in terms of value in an intake.

Is that the similar to the foam insulation square that is found underneath the inside the stock intake box lid?

I have the Rotofab on my 2018 ZL1. Looks great for the shows, sounds great during the drive, and if I make anywhere near 10hp it’s a plus.

Will it help you win more races? Maybe not. But at any rate it’s still pretty cool.
