Fold the rear seat open and climb into the trunk far enough so you can reach the manual release handle at the top. Might want to bring a flashlight so you can see the handle.

Yes. Try applying light pressure downward on the outside and pop the button. See if that does it,

Screw the rubber stoppers in half-turn each and see if that relieves the pressure. If not, turn another half-turn. Piece of cake.

e-brake...ok, this may explain why one time, i left car in accessory mode with wife and kid in, ran into Costco, grabbed a pizza, and could not get the trunk to open.

so, what I thought was a fluke bug may in fact be intentionally designed.

They do that so you will not hit it while driving down the road. You have to have the brake on or car shut off.
