Is it worth my time (Attention GM Rep)

Well its was a bitter sweet day. Here is the short story. My car got damaged from a fence project at the prison I work at. They were putting up a new perimeter fence then painted it. It was a breezy day and my car along with others got silver overspray. Mine got it all over including the glass. After some fighting about it, they decided to pay for the repairs. I got an estimate from a reputable body shop and the buffed and polished the whole car.

It got the over spray off but it showed other flaws. Flaws that I have heard about over and over in here. It showed that my paint is not only checking but also getting some small cracks . It looked so good from a distance but up close it is noticeable. They body shop pointed it out and suggested I get with GM and see about the warranty.

So here is the question. Can it be fixed under a recall/TSB or am I screwed along with so many others.

Now my wife is really looking at the Buick Encore's but seems like GM is going through a lot of problems lately let alone customer service issues.

What are my options?

I couldn't get any pics of the checking cause of the glare but here are some pics of her anyway.

Checking and cracking paint ? I have not heard of that here on other new Camaros.
What year is your car ? Mileage ? , Did you buy it new or used ? Did you check with
the dealer / person you bought it from re any previous repairs ?
Again, I don't remember anyone here on camaro5 with your specific paint complaints.

Can't say I've heard of checking or cracking paint either. Only one way to find out if GM will cover it though and that's by taking it by your dealer and seeing what they say.

Hello BlackIce1066,

Sorry to hear about the overspray incident. As far as coverage is concerned, a TSB involves vehicles that are exhibiting a concern that is not easily identifiable while a recall involves a safety-related defect or a noncompliance with a safety standard. While your bumper-to-bumper warranty does cover defects in materials and workmanship for a specified time and mileage parameter, it does not cover damage resulting from accidents, impact, use, or the environment. An official GM diagnosis would be needed to determine what coverage applies.

But the damage wasn't caused by the over spray nor the buffing. I hand clean, polish and wax my car and after a long winter, I noticed these marks that looked like minuet lines. It wasn't until they professionally polished it was when they were evident. The wax and polish really shows them up now. I'm probably S.O.L due to some legal loop hole.

2) complaining about dealer paint repairs and a new cuff.
3) a factory dashboard scuff.

I stand by what I said about not remembering your specific factory paint
defect being an issue here on camaro5.

I have similar issues with paint. First time I washed the car I dried the hood with a microfiber towel & noticed Orange paint on it. It came from a chip's on the hood, wasn't even a week old. Dealer actually took care of it, but did it as a "courtesy repair" rather than a warranty issue. I had a dozen bubbles in the clear coat also, some were tan. Hood & part of roof was repainted, sucked doing it to a new car but it was annoying to look at.

First of all I know what I am talking about. I bought the car right off the lot with 12 miles on it. I have driven every mile on the odometer. The first post I referenced is the problem I have and it is a GM defect. Unless you have been in theses shoes, then perhaps you don't know what your talking about.

Also I didn't even mention anything about a dash board scuff. This is a result of FACTORY paint. Not an aftermarket job or touch up.

^^^^ Don't change the topic- I'm talking about the 3 cracking & peeling examples YOU
showed above as the same problem as yours. Your 3rd example is for someone with a
dashboard problem, not a paint problem ??? Makes no sense !!!
Your other 2 examples are also unrelated to your problem.

No one on this forum can fix your paint. You asked for opinions and then decided everyone else couldn't possibly know better than you.

Why are you even bothering?

Well, what you did get out of this is Will's opinion. Which is always appreciated. Looks like you need to get a GM diagnosis if you want to go forward with this my friend.
