I can't see any other way than dropping the tank and going through the fuel pump opening.

Yeah that’s makes sense and that has to be a PIA.

Actually, it ain't bad. An air ratchet and screwdriver and one hour (less if you've done it before) you can have it out. I have a bad habit of looking at things way longer than necessary! I replaced my fuel pump and it wasn't all that bad. If I ever drop the tank again, I will replace the DSX fitting with one of those pretty AN bulkhead fittings.

So what's the issue with pulling up the backseat and accessing the tank from there ?

Are you saying that there is an access panel beneath the back seat on a ZL1?

Yessir I believe you just have to know where to cut but it's the most straight forward way to access the in tank pump

Did you make your own access panel? If so, do you have pictures?

I think I’d go with an in tank pump if I went through the effort of dropping the tank.

Yeah dropping the tank nullifies the whole point of going with the Aux kit

(For SS not ZL1)

Dropping the tank is really not that bad. Few hours worth of work.

On my 16 we replaced the Lt1 for an Lt4 and were able to replace the pump without dropping the tank all the way out of the car. We did it on my 4 post lift in a couple hours.

A Fore system will not only cost you a least another $1K, installation is much more involved. The DSX is an easy install and gives 70#+ at e50 in my experience.

You have to drop the tank to do the in-tank DSX

Are we talking about the same low side aux pump? I don't see that they offer an in-tank setup.
