Well... i made a little more progress today...

Started by disassembling the heads and cleaning them inside and out.
Debating whether or not to hand port them... Photos below of some of the carbon build up on the valves and valve seats.

Then I dis-assembled the blower and got it ready to ship to katech for porting. With the HX bricks out of the blower I mocked it up on a head, and bolted it up to see how good transition is between the blower runner and intake port. I guess i was not surprised to a large step and some generally rough casting.

After that I switched gears and installed my new front HX from DMS. Install was not bad at all... but you need to be patient as the HX is tricky to acess the bolts, and there are alot of clips attached to the crash bar that need to be removed. Be patient and be prepared to clean up some coolant. This thing is so much larger, and should work great with the Synergy 2 gallon fender tank... the system will have double the capacity or more! anyway... photos below. Not sure what ill do tomorrow.. stay tuned
Oh, one last thing... the $18 red LS style valve spring tool worked great!
NOTE: for those doing this at home... I found it tricky to prevent the valves from opening while using the tool. I tried rags but that didnt work. So i ended up using the (4) red polyurethane bushings from my motor mounts and place one under each chamber on the table, then clamped the head down and Viola! Keep in mind it takes alot more pressure then you might imagine to pop the locks off. Keep your magnet and zip lock baggies handy

Man, you're killing it. LOVE all these pics. Also makes me want to tackle this install myself.

Great job, and thanks for sharing!

With your attention to detail, I'd venture to guess you'll have zero issues at all when you fire it up!

Man I love this thread!!

Keep up the good work. I'm starting to get the mod bug again, and this thread is helping (or not helping...depending on if you are my wife) lol.

Thank you for the kind words... it is a slippery slope I can say that for sure!
It helps when your wife is deployed somewhere in the Atlantic ocean on an aircraft carrier with no cell reception for 3 months so she cant check the NEST cameras

Hey Everyone... I had an hour after dinner last night so I decided to start the trunion upgrade. This process was not as tricky as it looked, but im sure it would have been easier if i had an actual press, or the rockers had flat spots on both sides. If I had to do this more than once I may have purchased a proper press, and may have tried to put the bushings in the freezer and the rockers in the oven to help them press a little easier. Aside from my o-ring pliers being to small the job only took an hour or so... I will install the clips tonight.

A few photos for good measure

Actually... quick question for the pros out there... do the rockers need to go back in the same place, or can they get switched? They appear to all be the same.

best to keep them the same.
a rocker will wear on the valve, by changing them around you could cause some excessive wear from different patterns on different parts.

would wager this is a really minor issue overall though.

I kept all my valves, caps, rockers together.

Makes sense... I have mine all labeled also, but after handling the rockers, just wasnt sure if it was necessary.
