200 tread wear guys please help
Hi ladies and gents. I’m looking for the best straight line traction from one of the 200tw offerings. 285/35/20. Lots of these 200tw drag races popping up. Also looking to get better traction in general for street use. Open to above 200tw if they are great tires. Thanks in advance

I don't feel this is the Falken RT660's strong point, but you likely can't get Yok A052 so maybe Nankang CR-1 or the new RE71RS if it's available in a size that works.

The Yokohama’s are on big backorder. I like that tread the best. Looks like it would hook really well

Funny how different people's point of view is, because I feel like a straight-line hook actually is a strong point for the Falkens, at least when they're pretty new. The catch is that they don't make it in the 285/35/20 size the OP wants. They don't make in any 20, in fact. The Nankang doesn't come in his desired size, either, but they make a 305/30/20 that might work for him. The Yok does come in his desired, except that it's doesn't come at all right now... I don't know of any other 200tw tires that are close to these.

I’m gonna give the potenza re-71rs a try. They gotta be way better than these 245/40 Eagle all seasons

I think the thing missing from this conversation is tire temperature. Most of these tires require ~175F or so to get really sticky and grip.
Goodyear F1 FC3s are super sticky at these temps. So are Cup 2s. But drop down to below a 80F and you won’t be happy with either. Last edited by 5.M0NSTER; 09-12-2022 at 07:59 PM. |

I like the 660s but they are odd in some ways and fall off well before they wear out, so useful life isn't wonderful but that's the same with all AX tires unfortunately. I wish Bridgestone would make those RE71RS in ZLE sizes. One of the faster local guys was recording over 1.6g steady state in a BRZ on those tires! I've seen some real fast wear on Nankangs, but they seem to work pretty well, just not RE71RS well.

I’ll have to monitor tire temp after burnout. See what they like. I did get tire rack to heat cycle them so hopefully that will help with something |

Well it kinda worked out where they were the only ones in stock. Funny though, grassroots Motorsports had an article on these new and improved re71’s (few days ago) and they commented how well they bit coming out of corners. Hopefully that translates to what I’m trying to do

From a recent FB post:
"Data on my Mustang, same driver, same course showed the Yokohama to have 1g of forward push versus 0.7 for the Falken. And a 0.2 second faster every straight." My Falkens are getting worn and forward thrust SUCKS until they get a good bit of heat.
