The dealership that I ordered from has received a 2023, while my car still sits in New Boston. Whichever manager that operates the holding/staging area for shipping Camaros should be fired. The whole process is completely broken. Stevie Wonder could do a better job.

There are a couple '23s on the lot in Kentucky mostly LT models though.

That's not how it works.

I'm employed in class 8 truck manufacturing. We've been under big time pressure for the last year to transfer whatever trucks we can, however we can, on a daily basis.

I can't imagine a GM plant is any different.

Not all of this is within the manufacturer's control.

For example, earlier this year they had a carbon fiber component supplier go out of business. Getting another supplier up and running approved parts takes some time.

Now my example is just an isolated one of many but manufacturing has been a daily battle in recent years. I have more than 200 suppliers that I'm responsible for. Believe me. I know.
My 22 is not waiting for anything other than delivery. Car is complete and ready to be shipped.

Ship it. That's how it should work.

Agreed. Finish 2022 business before starting 2023 business. Simple. And the right thing to do.

There's a reason it's sitting.

You or I may not know the reason, but there's a reason.

It may be parts. It may be transport. But there's a reason.

A car sitting at the plant doesn't make them any money. It costs them money. They're not sitting on it because they don't feel like shipping it.

We track various metrics for built trucks in our lots. These are reported on daily. Age of the truck is one of those metrics.

And GM is far more sophisticated than us.

GM as a whole is sophisticated; however their shipping arrangements are anything but.

I could be fall down drunk and do a better job.

Shipping is as disappointing as driving a Mustang every day.

Alas, that isn't always a good thing. It leads to optimizations that favor them in the short term but can easily lead to their eventual demise.

I would be pissed if my 2022 was sitting for months waiting to be delivered whiles 2023s were already hitting lots.

My 2022 was built end of April, even though I was told my order was lost and id be switched to a 2023. It arrived at the dealer early June and I took delivery mid june. I am happy to have received it as it appears the same car is now $2k more for a 2023.

My 23 had a TPW of 7/25, it was 3800/built on 7/27, and has an eta of 8/5.

But it's a "base" ZL1 with no options that cause problems like tech/chips...I've sometimes wondered if that helped.

Too I ordered it out of Detroit to hope that I'd get it sooner and not play the shipping waiting game, I have the luxury of being able to fly up and drive it home.
