Are you sure it was the caliper itself and not a rock that got caught between the caliper and the wheel and couldn't get moved out?
Which AP calipers? 9668? 9660?
What size rotor kit are you running? 372mm? or their new even larger rotor size?

Did you print the Essex wheel fitment template and try using that to see if it shows a possible interference?

I'd be really surprised because I would think that the Forgeline wheels would have plenty of clearance to the AP calipers.
