TIRES/WHEELS in Cold Weather? - SS

What are you doing about tires and wheels for the Fall & Winter when the Temp. dips below 40 degrees. Also, if you buy/order a SS now, will it come with stock SUMMER ONLY TIRES? I would rather have all season tires than heated seats & heated steering wheel.

Your thoughts.

Summer performance tires are standard. Heated goodies are in the 2SS.
I am getting BFG Comp 2 A/ S for the chilly weather

Check out the wheels forum. I Rudy from Tire Rack can help you out. He spec'd me a set for my 14 SS. I plan on using them on my 17, hoping they will fit.

My SS IS my daily driver.

I bought a set of 2010 Camaro LS 18" wheels for my winter set up. I'm thinking of pairing them up with Bridgestone Blizzaks.

The stock GYs on the SS are fine in cold weather, I drove them a bunch of times this winter, temps here in NC get down pretty low some mornings. I drove in 25 - 30 temps with no problems. My car is kept in a climate controlled finished garage, so the tires are warm when I leave in the morning. Just drive slow and all will be good.

Thats the part no one ever remembers. It may be cold out, that just means you can't go stabbing at that throttle like it owes you money. Nice & gentle, everythings fine.

I drove previous camaros with summer tires year round (no snow...generally?) and never had a problem. but it is fun being able to mash the gas and feel the tires just give up in really cold weather.

Summer tires will crack in cold temps. On top of that they are much much much slippier when it's cold than all seasons, and that's on dry pavement.

Summer tires are not good for winters in many parts of the US.
Quote from Owners manual:

"Summer Tires
High Performance Summer
Tires This vehicle may come with 245/40ZR20 and 275/35ZR20 high performance summer tires. These tires have a special tread and compound that are optimized for
maximum dry and wet road performance. This special tread and compound will have decreased performance in cold climates, and on ice and snow. It is recommended
that winter tires be installed on the vehicle if frequent driving at temperatures below approximately 5 °C (40 °F) or on ice or snow covered roads is expected."

I've been waiting for these tires as well but nobody seems to have a complete set in stock, only the front size. If you happen top find a complete set let me know please.

No better way to keep your tires nice & warm in the winter months than their own personal electric blankets!

I got the Continental DWS06 tires the day after I got my car last December. I kept them on until the end of April then I put the Factory tires on MRR M228 Wheels.
Where about in NY are you? Upstate or Down near the City/Long Island?

Think the GY will have the same cracking problem as the 1LE tires of last gen? I don't plan on driving it, but will be stored outside.

Here in SWFL, no changes to the tires. Would never give up the heated goodies, especially the steering wheel or seat. Actually, look forward to it come January...ish???
