It doesn't matter what they do with the msrp. The dealers will cut price to move them. They can only have them on the lot so long paying interest on it themselves before they have to go. 0% financing or 20% off will be here next year too.

It can be a valid pricing strategy.
Gibson guitars used it very successfully. They had free advertising though and their product was associated with cool rock stars. We'll see how GM'S play on this strategy goes. So far it isn't looking too good.
