it can be more complicated than just a incompetent salesman. Many sales managers keep their salesmen in the dark about ordering, allocations etc. The usual thing said to salesguys from their mgr is "you just worry about writing the order, don't worry about getting the car, that's my job." And they're simply not told.
Here's what I would say to the salesman: "that's not right, I read on many Internet forms from GM people that there is an allocation, do you want to check with your mgmt and come back and get me the right information?" at this point keep it non confrontational, if you find him lying again, then find another salesman, or find another dealer Get the working sales manager involved in your deal the minute you walk in the first time. You're making a big purchase, sales managers have no problem meeting you to discuss the particular arrangement's of the deal, and then you'll have two people telling you some information. Also get his card, his email, and his direct line if it's on his card.

Every Chevy is distributed using the allocation process. Doesn't matter if it is a Spark or a Corvette.

Thanks for the input guys. I did get ahold of the right manager but the salesman seemed very upset that I asked for the information, even after explaining why, nicely. It turns out that they do not have allocation for 2 weeks. Do we know if in 2 weeks GM will still be accepting and building 2016s?

I have seen two dates for 2017 initial order dates, March 31 (Donlen and Arifleet) and April 21 (Becky Doyle). The first two are generally accurate but normally do not change dates even when such do change. I would go with Becky but if you really want a 2016 I suggest getting to your dealership as soon as possible, just in case.

Is Becky the only official Camero6 forum approved vendor/dealer? On the vette forum there are 3 or 4 dealers that have been vetted by the forum members and can be trusted to not be lying/thieving scumbags. Of course if the vette forum dealers (like MacMulkin Chevrolet) can be trusted with a new vette order I don't know why they couldn't be trusted with a Camero order, just another Chevy.

Dealers and their staff are taught to sell what they got. If it ain't on the lot it can't be moved and who needs to know options and their combos for something not even built?
This is the American vehicle business model. It is the business model I met when I did my first custom order in 1973 and little has changed over the years. With few exceptions, when you walk into a dealer's showroom you should expect to know more about the vehicle you want and the ordering process than the salesperson you draw. Be gentle and you may be able to pass your knowledge on which can only benefit that persons future customers. Laborsmith |

I find it amazing that in this day and age of technology that salespeople/ managers think they can lie to customers and get away with it. Be straight with me and I will promote your business as being upfront and honest (even if you can't provide me the car or the price I want), lie to me and I will be sure to post my experience on the forums and you will likely lose sales because of it, possibly for years to come. As each generation becomes more and more dependent on the internet, forums and online reviews dealerships need to become more and more aware that their business can be made or lost form customer reviews.
It's salespeople like Becky that restore my confidence in the whole buying experience. Salespeople who make the effort and are upfront and honest will get my business every time no matter what the bottom line.
