How much did the wheels run you?!? I would assume a lot considering there aren't any customer 1LEs delivered yet.

I run 315 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 on my '01 SS with 535 RWHP, obviously the current edition is the Pilot Super Sport and the next one, the Pilot Sport P4 is due out in March. I would say it does well all around, my usual traction problem is in the wet, trying to leave a stop light. The white stripes get ya everytime, haha. Ive heard the same thing about those Goodyear Super Car G:2's from a coworker that did a state safety inspection on a 5th gen ZL1 that was traded in. Said it would spin the tires w/o trying and didnt want to even start to try and grip until they got hot. I dont know if Continental offers the ExtremeContact DW in those sizes. Lingenfelter likes to use them for their project cars.

Well this makes more sense as I'm running the G:2's in the rear and they suck for traction. Got caught in the rain and that was a nightmare. I wanted the BF Goodrich Comp TA's but they were discontinued in the 305/35 size.

I created a new thread for LT4 questions.

http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9346024

I'll post answers to the swap questions already asked on the new thread. Let's keep this thread focused on the tires.

Thanks!

I've been really impressed with the MICHELIN PILOT SPORT CUP 2 ZP on the Z06/7. I was skeptical at first, but it does really well and has done well in the rain too. Congrats on your car also and i'll be checking out your other thread too.

Thanks!

Michelin's rock, but unfortunately they don't make a matching 305/35-20 and 285/35-20. I would have to drop down to a 30 instead of a 35... I think that might be bad news for the rims where I live.

A lot of the Optima Street Car Challenge vehicles run B.F. Goodrich G-Force Rival S, those cars are all higher hp.

Those look pretty cool, but I don't believe they are made in the size I need.

Yeah, after I posted, I started looking into what was available in the sizes you have. There's SO FEW possibilities in matching front and rear tires. Even if I switched to the 30 series and also changed the rears to a 315/30R20. I checked through Tirerack, Discount Tire, Tire Buyer, Tread Depot... Haven't started going to individual manufacturers websites (other than B.F.G) to check what's available just yet. Figured Id look into Nitto NT05's, also what Hankook and Falken had to offer.

Never had those tires, but I have had tires that needed 4-500 miles before they would grip, then they were significantly better. My Invo's did that, the car was dangerous for the first 50 -100 miles and they kept getting better until around 500 IIRC. Other tires were fine from day 1.

I was extremely disappointed with NT05's (Non R) as well.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport is what I use for the street...you are gonna have traction problems with any street tire other than the 200 treadwear stuff but then you get into having to replace them a lot more often. Michelin PSS is a good balance between wear and performance.
