If you reset the map and start without draining the tank what was the point, the MAP learns real-time, and over time will adjust right back to 93 if that's what you are putting in. |

It should be fine, run the car on the hwy to burn all or most of the gas out. In the future be very careful about the octane of your gas. I always look to see if I use premium because its easy to forget and put the wrong gas in.

The only 100 octane that I know of has lead in it. You don't want to run load in it. It will plug up your CCs.

It's easy to make that mistake. Especially when you have 5 vehicles to drive. I did this just once to the camaro. My problem is I can't remember which side the fill tank is on the vehicle i'm driving.

Agreed. Was just referring to later model (post mid 80's) vehicles.

There were still a lot of cars that didn't have them until about 2000. My 99 s10 doesn't have one.

Hmmm. My neighbor has a 99. It has the little fuel pump logo in the gauge on the right side.

I know we are highjacking a thread, but I'm bored enough today to research this a little. The arrow first showed up maybe in 76 on some Mercedes with the low fuel light being an arrow that pointed to the correct side of the fuel filler. It might have been a coincidence. Ford started with the arrow it in the late 80's. Some companies may have used the fuel pump logo to show which side it's on, but since it has a 50% chance of being wrong/right it's hard to say which ones did it on purpose without reading owners manuals.
My S10 has the fuel filler in the left side. |
