My dealership fixed my car on request. Once fixed there have been no ticks at all. Maybe you should choose another dealership.

Yup the original dealership I went to refused to do any work for the issue. I took it to another dealer and the service rep said they couldn't reproduce the problem. I documented the issue several times on my phones video camera. Brought my car back in bypassed the service rep and talked with the mechanic directly. Showed him the video, showed him the TSB and explained to him very kindly the ordeal I was going through. He immediately had the parts ordered and had the service rep schedule an appointment. I've been piston slap free ever since the repair.

Contact GM executives if possible. DO NOT take it to Chuck Nash in San Marcos.

Contacted GM, they have done nothing but blow smoke. I see all these threads where they post these nice little "sorry for your trouble, please contact me" but they do nothing. this has been the biggest bunch of crap I have ever seen. I work for a import dealership. if I ever told a customer to live with a rattle in their engine, Im pretty sure I would be fired. just plain stupid.

I have come to realization that I must fix it myself. by doing so voiding the remaing warranty on the car. what kind of company won't stand behind their own product. very disappointed with GM

I have a 2010 Pace Car that only has 3900 miles on it. I drove it to work last week and a co-worker wanted to hear it so I started it up. This guy is a big Mustang fan.

To say that I was embarrassed is an understatment. The fact that the guy wouldn't let it go..............well it is pretty.

Id look into another dealer. Most of the time youll find someone that will take it and fix it. I was having issues with my dealer at one point but after me going straight to the service coordinator they stepped up in a BIG way. Sometimes you gotta talk to the right people even.

I have talked to GM many times. I have also contacted two other dealers. both of them said they would look into it, but never called me back.

Don't call. Never gets you anywhere. You do have to drive there. They respond better if you are in person versus phone calls. Just my advice. It is what I have had to do and being in person gets you somewhere

We have a '14 L99 that has a tick/noise on the engine left bank when the engine is heating up. Never does it cold. I took it back to the dealer twice and on the 2nd time, mechanic acknowledged noise, called GM and there is a case number.

They told me to "drive it and see what happens".
I was told to have the oil and filter changed at 2,000 miles "to see if the tick/noise has gotten worse or fixed itself". I was also told "the noise probably won't hurt anything".

We have 780 miles on it and so far the noise hasn't changed.

Good luck on your car.

Bob

I know this is an old tread but im having the same issue with my 14 l99. It will tick every once in a while upon start up. It is way louder than any other car ive had. My car goes in for its first service next week so ill see how interested they are in fixing it.

Wouldn't an AFM delete take care of the issue. I haven't heard of any LS3 guys having this. May be time to give her a head and cam upgrade

It has nothing to do with AFM. There was a tech bulletin for the 2010 models, it probably still covered, If the noise is during a cold start-up.

I've never heard a thing from my early build (8/4/09) L99. I think that 8 oil changes in
5 years / 35,000 miles might help keep the lifters clean and quiet.
