Wheels for track or street?

As GM has FINALLY accepted my order for a ZLE, I want to start looking at wheels. However, I am unsure if I want to use stock wheels/tires for the track and purchase a set of street wheels with PS4S tires.

Or, alternatively, buy a set of race wheels (Apex?) and tires and keep the stockers for street driving.

I will probably put 2000 or less miles per year street driving with 2 - 5 track days per year.

Thanks for your thoughts. I tried a search for this but search function did not work.

I would think that with a ZLE that comes with Goodyear Supercar 3 tires, you'd want to save those for track use and have a second set of wheels/tires for the street. Either PS4S or Continental ExtremeContact Sports would make great "three-season" street tires and also great rain tires for any track/autocross events. You can find a few ZLE-sized wheels for sale in the classified section of this forum, or of course you can also buy new ones.

The ZL1 1LE comes with the Supercar 3R tire, which is basically a DOT approved racing compound with some shallow treads cut into it for water evacuation. All the controls (ABS, eLSD, and PTM if you plan to use it) are cal'd around the 3R tire as well which will make it the "easiest" to drive on track. On top of that, the 19" OE wheels are forged.

IMO the OE setup is the way to go for dry track use, then a second set of wheels/tires for wet track use and daily driving like what Matt said above.

I kept my stock ZLE wheels for street use and run Michelin PS4S. For the track I went with 18's and run Hoosier slicks. I went with a set of BC forged wheels.

That looks great! I like those wheels. I'm going to need a year a so under my belt with the ZLE before I even think about slicks. I'm coming from an SS1LE so I would like to get comfortable with the extra power.
