I'm sure you could've took the Honda without any issues of going over 4k rpm

I did the break in per the manual as I autocross the car and wanted all parts in the driveline to breakin properly. First oil change at 1500, though probably should have changed it at 500, but I didn’t get the performance breakin schedule with the car other then the supplement, and never knew it existed.I have it now, so I asked a GM tech friend who has a zle and been racing camaros said 500-1000 miles is fine. 500 miles as per zle 1le specs definitely if tracking, and 1500 miles before any racing.
My car runs great and no issues. I followed the guide as to keeping at 4000 rpm. Keep rpm’s varied and rev up and down the range. Freeways Never lug the motor, I kept it at around 2500 rpm minimum, and I drive it home 200 miles from the dealer and on freeway.
Note also that gm does most of the critical break in at the factory,They really aren’t going to leave it to people to do it as most don't know what they are doing as these are tight tolerance motors, and expensive, this isn’t 1980 anymore and motors are built tight.
1500 miles first oil change, 0-40 Mobil one esp( all oil changes) no oil use
2200 miles, used a 1/2 qt. But four autocross days and engine at high rpm’s
5529 miles used 2/3 qt, 12 autocross days
6350 oil change
7750, 1400 miles, no oil use and three race days.
Car never babied, just driving normally but revving up and down the range without flooring it. Same as so have done on all my five Camaros I have had . And none have had a oil consumption issue other then with age and normal wear and tear.

Hope this helps!

My oil came today. Mobil 1 0W-40 ESP. Currently I'm at 380 miles and have been staying below 4k rpm and varying my speeds. I plan to do the first oil change at 500 miles per the recommendations from Chevy. I checked the oil last night and the car hasn't used any oil and it still looks and smells new. I'm wondering in 500 miles isn't too soon to change the oil, but I'm still going to follow the recommendations. After the first oil change I plan to get on it some and keep checking the oil until I change it again at 1,500 miles.

Follow the track break-in guide and you'll be ok.

First oil change at 500 miles, second oil change and rear diff fluid flush at 1500 miles.
