The Speedster/VX220 turbo beat out the 911 GT3 on Top Gear back in 2003. The styling hasn’t aged as well as its Lotus counterpart though.

If the engine breaks, one could likely source the Toyota part. However, if it’s a lotus specific part, or in the case of a wreck, that might take time.

Luckily for me, I live in NorCal which has several dealers within a couple hundred miles. That might lessen timelines for me.

I have a deposit on the Emira. It will be a downgrade in performance (I own a 2018 ZLE) so I'm not 100% sold on it yet (however, I am very much in love with the uniqueness of the car as well as how absolutely gorgeous it is....plus it will be the last gas powered vehicle Lotus makes so all of those reasons combined are why I'm thinking about getting one), but I'll be looking at 2023 before I can get my hands on one so I have time to think about it.

Anything north of 60k had better have 8 cylinders and at least 600 hp. If a car asking this price tag doesn't have those minimum requirements then I won't even look at it.

For me it's about driving experience. Yeah the v8 and big power helps a lot, but size and weight count too. Neck snapping acceleration with excellent cornering, sound, sun and wind is what I'm looking for.

Hence the ZL1 vert.

427 cobra was on the short list for a long time. Still is when garage space permits. An Emira with 300+ ft-lbs would fit the bill well if they make an open top variant, and of course it's big brother: McLaren.

True that, but not all of us are as brilliant as a ZL1. The ZL1 brings to its customers all of the performance of the v8 with such force that it deserves all respect that it is owed.

However, there is something to be said about the smoothness, the sound and the feel of a v8 vehicle. A v8 car/truck has qualities that set itself apart from other vehicles. Now would I buy a non-v8 car? Of course, but then again we're not talking about 70k or higher for said car (I hope).
