Different Wing for 1LE
Good morning folks. I'm strongly considering getting back into a Camaro. I sold my Z/28, which I loved. Now driving a GT4 Porsche, which I love, but it's a pure toy and very expensive. I also miss that American V8 muscle. Anyhoooooo, I love the ZL1 1LE.......except for the wing (I'm not a fan of big rear wings.....I know, I know so what am I doing with a GT4). Has anyone put a normal rear wing on their ZL1 1LE? I really like the normal SS 1LE rear spoiler, very minimalist, which I'm looking for. If anyone has pics and info it would be greatly appreciated. I'm that weird dude that buys track cars and never tracks them. I live literally 10 minutes from hundreds of miles of the most awesome back roads you can imagine where there is NOBODY on them Saturday/Sunday mornings so I get my kicks that way.

My SS 1LE with ZL1 1LE OEM front end, fenders, rockers (SS hood), with SS 1LE rear trunk and spoiler (with wickerbill).

Pretty sure you could VERY EASILY sell the wing and put on something else.. or trunk swap/etc.

He very clearly states that he doesn't like the wing. Which is why he doesn't want it.
In reference to the original post; I believe you will need to swap the truck lid if you don't want to see the holes from the factory ZL1 1LE wing stanchions. Brandan |

Thanks for the inputs. I have thought about getting a regular ZL1, but I don't like the wheels so I'd be swapping those out, and I'm not a huge fan of that spoiler too so I'd be spending even more $. Literally the only thing I don't like about the 1LE is the wing. It sounds like a trunk swap might be the ticket.

Why not just get a regular ZL1?

semi, the SS, ZL1 and ZL1/1LE from 2018 up all share the same rear spoiler holes.
Buy the ZLE of your choice and then get the spoiler you want, paint to match and install. I'd be interested in the high wing off of the ZLE

Your not the only one ! I've been on a few road race tracks on my 05 GSXR 1000 back(other bikes also) in the day, and I will probably get around to COTA here in Texas. But the roads you mentioned with 100's of miles and nobody in sight or around, Sounds like paradise to me, just a full tank of gas and hauling ***, best admission ticket period. I have a ZL1 with all oem 1LE parts added except shocks. Happy hunting ! |

I installed an Anderson Composites carbon fiber spoiler on my ZL1. It matches the carbon fiber hood insert perfectly. I love it.

I understand the OP doesn't like the wing ZLE, but if you remove it there are a couple of issues... I assume a ZLE buyer intends to track the car at least once every couple of years, and if so you 1) will lose the rear downforce which is critical to the unique grip of the car in high speed turns on track (and IMO is just enough, I would prefer they designed a bigger wing), and you will also also 2) create a f/r handling imbalance with the car that was carefully designed by engineers at Pratt and Miller in a wind-tunnel.
Would anyone buy a Viper ACR or GT3 RS and remove the wing? I hope not :-) |

I guess I'm in the minority of liking the zl1 wheels over the zle wheels.
