Install info
The GM footwell kit does come with install instruction's, but we thought we would do our own version for anyone interested. The kit includes 2 LED lights which snap into pre-cut holes in the underdash area. Install is about an hour.

Could I tap my own led lights into the lighting module? Or is it some special gm programmed deal? Also how do you change the color? could you post up the installation instructions that came with the kit?

Hi Chris, this is the GM spectrum kit for the foot well, and only use 3 wires do do all the work, 1 is ground, 2nd is a 12V+ and last you have the data wire, you control it on the car, with the controls on in the screen, (if your car has them) you need to have the spectrum lighting to start.

That is not good news. No Spectrum lighting....no footwell lighting.
Seems a little silly

GM does make an accessory kit to add the lighting to the doors as well as the footwells. It is only intended for those with the base radio, 7" screen. It actually adds a control module and switch to the car. The switch is located where the HUD switch would go on a HUD equipped model. Kit is just shy of $1,000. Sounds like Gen5DIY needs to make a kit

Maybe not the full spectrum lighting that you can control with myLink, but I'm wondering if you can just buy the kit and have the lights just stay one color. Maybe swap LEDs. With the 3rd wire being for the controller, wonder what happens if it's unplugged. Either way, this seems like something the aftermarket could fix with a standalone controller.
