I tell all my customers, your better off leaving it dirty for an extra day or two, than not doing it the right way, and hand wash it or leave it to a reputable Detailer.. One dirty drying rag at the car wash, and ur screwed

I always hand wash mine but its mainly because I am OCD and want it cleaned a certain way plus I enjoy doing it. I even polish/wax it myself.

The thing about the no touch car wash is that most of the time the sprays are not strong enough to remove the dirt. It's almost like you really need to put a microfiber wash pad to clean that dirt off there.

Some car wash places do offer hand washes but be prepared to pay $30 + for that service.

Even with the touchless car washes they have to touch it somewhere.

Touchless uses high pressure sprayers.

Few weeks back the wife bought her 3rd Honda CR-v. Nice metallic dark silver. I looked at the car in the showroom and was impressed as the paint was virtually scratch free. Even commented to the Salesmen on the paint.

Few days later Karen picks it up. When she came home I was surprised how many ,fine scratches I saw in the paint. As well as tough to remove water spots.

Last week I was at the dealership and saw the wash guy in a bay washing another new car.

Using DIRTY water, the SAME MITT , then rinsing the car off and parking it outside. After giving it a very minimal wipe down, drying.

The SAFEST wash is the one you do YOURSELF. Don't even start me on auto washes!

Touchless is good when you need a quick wash a few days after a hand wash. I used it throughout this winter and I swear while it cleaned it "ok", it would still have salt/dirt that needed some elbow grease to remove, which would result in me rewetting and touching it up in my garage. Yesterday was my first real hand was in months and it's night n day. But I still gotta work on my rims. While I got most of the dirt off its still ashy looking. A few more cleanings should do it.

Look for a wheel cleaner with iron remover, the Brembo pads create a lot of dust. Be warned, a good wheel cleaner is going to stink bad. It works great, but the smell and price made me switch out my Brembo pads for PowerStop ceramic pads.

Agreed...iron x finally changed their formula. Now it smells like lemon… Thank God , it was terrible…

I never tried Iron X, but I used Sonax and though the smell was pretty bad, it wasn't as bad as Adam's Wheel Cleaner. Though it was crazy expensive and a single bottle only lasted several applications. Adam's cleaner is cheaper, but the smell is so horrible that I had to move the 1 gallon bottle to my basement from upstairs near my bedroom because you can smell it through the plastic.

My experience is

If the wheel cleaner doesn't smell like sulfur, it doesn't work that well.
