Measured quarter maybe.... stopped to quick for a dragstrip run.

I don't think it's a full 1/4 mile. It sounds like a dyno run or a 0-100 run.

When drag racing you don't shift at peak power. Normally you take it Mother 3-500rpm so that recovery in the next gear is better. Unless you have a very peaky engine that falls rather drastically. The lt1 falls but not enough to worry. Those who complain about having not topend are the ones used to having no lowend of mid range. I'd rather be done 6500 instead of just getting started.

That's exactly what I was thinking. No way they are pulling 12 flat, or I'd say, even a super low 12 from the manual car. If the automatic car does that, (which I believe it will in the hands of owners) that would be my best guess.

I can agree with that.

I'm baffled that most of you believe the manual will be the better 1/4 mile car. As in the Stingray, I believe the 8 speed will do a job on the manual by at least 2/10s seconds. Yeah, I understand that in this case, patience is not necessarily a virtue or even tolerable, especially for those with a car on order.

In recent years, GM has been very prudent in producing Chevys and other GM brands that soundly trounce the competition...they won't let us down. It should quite easily beat the Mustang's 12.9 best published times by at least 3/10s second. I've proven quite convincingly that each 100 lbs makes a 1/10th second difference in a 5th gen Camaro. With more hp and a lighter car, the 2016 should be in the mid 12s. If it doesn't, GM would certainly lose all credibility.

When we get enough 1/4 mile challenge times posted, we'll probably see a range of a half second from best to poorest on both the manual and the 8 speed auto. So, which time will be the time most representative of the car's true potential?

The Mustang is doing much better than the 12.9 number that you're trying to use as a benchmark. As for GM producing vehicles that "soundly trounce the competition" that's up for debate.

Not sure where you got that. The vast majority in all threads where 1/4 mile is discussed say the automatic will do better.

In all fairness...he said "published" times. That means mag reviews and Ford's estimations. Not hero runs and not runs by the owners.

When mags review the SS, and Chevrolet releases their numbers they will likely be in the low to mid 12s for the automatic, but we all know in the hands of owners these cars are going to pull off very low 12s if not squeak out a very high 11 by a couple folks running in ideal conditions.

Scat pack Challenger A8 is pulling 12.3 and 12.2 on a prepped track, I hope we are right there or better.

The only PP is number 6. You can't get PP with the auto. The 50th LE auto has some PP parts from what I have heard.

Lol. This needs to become a thing. "Was it a base GT or did it have the PP?"

I think the 3.73 is an indicator of the performance package.

Here's their leaderboards thread: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16739

And here's where Ford talks about the performance package: http://www.ford.com/cars/mustang/fea...#page=Feature5 (gotta make sure you read under the GT section, I didn't do that initially...)
