Protecting your Car on Track Days
So prepping for a HPDE or two this summer whatever I can afford. Here's a question what do you all do to protect the car? I only have 2600 miles on mine and there's already rock chip damage on the lower front rear quarters and the lower part of the front bumper. Is there anything more economical then the 3m wrap?

I use this. It definitely helps and it's safe on the paint. They have different sizes. For the front bumper I'd recommend 3".

Windshield protection film is pretty cool. Install a few tear off sheets and they last quite a while. I wish I had done this because my windshield is very pitted.

I also second the "don't buy anything" crowd. You are more likely to get rock chips on the interstate than on the track. Most of the time, the worst that happens on the track is rubber scuffing which is easy to get off. I wouldn't worry about it too much. That's just me though. If I'm taking my car to the track, I'm mentally/financially prepared for a crash, and I know that it could get totaled and be a total loss, and I accept it. I wouldn't be having fun peeling around the track if I was worrying about little rock chips.

I started out in 2007 with a show quality C5 Z06. Rolls of blue tape, shelf paper, static cling plastic bits, spray on film, you name it. After a while I ceased to care about the paint and actually won two "Celebrity Choice" trophies at Corvettes of Carlisle for showing my car fresh from 3-days at Watkins Glen with rubber marks, paint chips and all. Really pissed off my "waxer" friends.
I get it. You have something nice and you want to protect it. I simply have resolved myself to the fact that I can't have nice things. Seriously, just sold a pristine 911 C4S because it was too nice to drive and I might chip the paint. |

PPF on front end, fender impact zones, rockers, quarter impact zones. ZL1 Addon rock guards on front and rear. Pricey approach but worth it.
