SS to 1LE Brake upgrade performed and this is happening now ...

I had the OEM 1LE Rotors turned (big mistake???) and put on new powerstop pads for the 1LE; broke them exactly as advised and the rotors had grooves in the by the time I got home 10 miles later. They're now worse than ever looking 500 miles later and starting to squeal, vibrate, and make chunky grabs / noises. WTH have I down wrong?? All because of the turned rotors?

I really wanted drilled / slotted / low dust rotors for the 1LE brakes but could not find; suggestions please?

Also - what is the part number of the shield the goes behind the front rotors on the 1LE? Cannot find that anywhere either

I never understand the turning of the rotors thing. It is bad from all sides. Thicker rotors dissipate heat better, are more resistant to warping.

GM used to put cheap , thin rotors on in the C5 Z06 days. I warped those rotors within 1K miles on all 3 C5 Z06's I had. They all got upgraded to the BAER Eradispeed rotors, problem solved.

NEVER turn rotors, spend the money and buy new ones, less headaches and issues.

Ditto what TRZ said. I'd avoid turning rotors altogether. As for preventing grooves, go a little easier than the break-in procedure on the box. In my experience the box outlines a more severe burnishing cycle that has a higher risk of damaging stuff by pushing too hard too fast. Can reduce number of stops and/or how hard you're stopping and typically get the same results.

Is this for aesthetic purposes only? DBA makes slotted rotors that fit SS 1LE brake hardware, but I advise against it without doing some homework on what exactly is needed to swap rings instead of the whole rotor assembly. There's a thread here on the topic. I personally recommend sticking with OE rotors for longevity, but if not I suggest only considering slotted and avoiding drilled entirely.

SS 1LE rotor shields are:
L - 23336594
R - 23336595
