Turbo Camaro – 700+ wheel
2016 2SS A8
Single Turbo SBE LT1 built and tuned by New Era Performance in Rochester NY It was pulled off the Dyno when it cruised past 700 wheel. Snow melted and salt washed away so I started stacking miles on it. Drove like a summer cruiser around town for the family and unleashed hell if you wanted. It pulled harder than I woulda thought coming from a 9 sec/ 145mph cars. We double checked everything on the dyno with warmer weather and welds/drag radials and it made something like 730. I put another 1K miles on it and finally started getting some decent “summer” weather. Couple days ago it dropped in the 40s and pretty crappy but I finally got to line up with my brother’s Hellcat. We’ve been waiting to use it as a gauge on how fast the Camaro really was. He went 10.9 at mid 120s. I figured I was faster but we all wanted to see what would happen. From 40, he took off. The Hellcat got about a fender out on the hit and I went into sling shot mode. I drove outta the tire spin and came around him by the top of 2nd gear and really started to stretch out into 3rd and 4th. We were both shocked how this combo could give the hit to a quick roots blower car and not take seconds and couple gears to catch up. After that, he pulled up again. I went into Manual mode again and paddle shifted down into 2nd and took off. Car shot out like a bullet and BOOM. My focus was keeping it in my lane and I left the fing shifter in Manual and never slapped it over into Drive. Making the power I was, in 40* weather, and going into the limiter was clearly the hard limit. We have it on video, I’ll load it up. So now I’m in the market for a replacement. They are stupid expensive on ebay for pull outs with some miles on them. I haven’t even looked into mine yet to see how bad it is but the amount of metal pieces in the belly pan and picking up the tops of rods, I’m guessing my long block is destroyed. Short blocks with rods and pistons are pricey but not out of the picture. If I’m going through the time and effort, whats another 2K in the whole picture? Bitter sweet first post but feel free to link me to vendors/sponsors/members for either a factory LT1 or a piston/rod combo. I am ready to purchase now. I have reached out to a couple people’s classified posts. |

Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5/6. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives', husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!
