Coming from Corvettes I know several guys that store cars for a while and only get them out to drive to events and never have drivetrain issues. Don't let someone that drives them daily put you in panic mode about a car that is stored or not driven for a year. It's not like it's been tucked in a barn for 10 years and just seeing sunlight. Most all of the fluids in new cars are synthetic based and it shouldn't be a issue. The car only has 600 miles, it's not hurt. Also, If the car was garage kept and started once in a while I wouldn't worry too much about seals considering how new of car, keep in mind that the drive line has a 5 year 60,000 mile warranty if something should go wrong. One more thing, just make sure if you are quoted bought prices here on the forum it is apples to apples. If someone says that I bought a new SS for only X amount and it's cheaper.. Compare options. If this is a loaded 2SS with NPP and Mag ride control that is pushing a $47,000 to $50,000 list price then it is not comparable to a 1SS or less option car. Look around, look at KBB, NADA and I'm sure a few others can give you sites to compare fair market value. Good luck and keep us posted.

Just got the 153 point inspection report back from the local Chevrolet Dealer. Everything looks good on the car. No negative checks at all.... including the tires.
Time to negotiate a price and make this bad boy mine. |

Now that I am officially getting a Camaro, what things do I need to do to it first?
I have read about the paint being super thin and that a lot of people get a clear coat protection put on the front half of the car as well as the "hips" of the car over the rear wheels. Any suggestions on how to do this without breaking the bank? My bank account is already sore from this purchase. Lol I also plan to take it in at some point in the next 6 months of my warranty coverage and report a shuddering in the rear end and have them do the triple flush and fill on the tranny and differential to avoid having that issue. Oh, and I will also probably have them do the rivet epoxy fix on the dual exhaust if I notice that rattling. Thanks, Tex |

All paint is super thin these days as they are water based and of course all manufacturers will get away with the least amount of paint, etc to save cost. The clear bra on the front and rear bumper will be about $1K. If you find a smaller shop ask them if you remove thee bumpers if it is cheaper.
There isn't a triple flush anymore but instead a brand new fluid that is supposed to be resilient to moisture. All in all if the A8 doesn't have a shutter I think it is a great trans. Good shifting and when your in sport mode it will down shift going down hills and it is pretty slick. the only thing I notice that when in manual mode the 1-2 shift is very slow but again we don't have a dual clutch trans so maybe that is the best we can hope for. The differential is just a fluid change and after one mine is gone. I suspect that it would have been gone over time anyways though so I wouldn't let that be at the top of your list. |

Don't go looking for trouble with the A8. If yours is smooth (most are) be happy.

Far out. I recently traded my 15 SS vert for a 17 SS vert. No more limp L99 for me. You’re going to love it.
