I saw over 7,500 a few times in that video - if the PDR was accurate, that was some moderate mechanical over revving.

When you are at redline at the end of a straight, you need to give the brakes time to slow the car before the down shift. Not saying that this was the cause, but the engine was over revved a few times.

I hope the OP gets it back together soon - but that will be heavy work ahead.

Couple of over-rev downshifts.

IHight RPM mechanical over Rev was 71xx.
If that is going to toss its lunch that's pretty sad!
Cosworth Toolbox data as far as values was in line with my other track events.
I do though need to get car slowed down on the brakes first before shifting.
If I shift into 5th on that straight I'd have to quickly downshift as I'd be in braking zone. Instead I just hold 4th gear which is OK as protection of Rev limiter. Basically I need to go faster thru turn before long straight to allow more room for 5th gear!!!

Even with a minimum speed of 100 through 12 I didn't find enough room on the straight to make sense to shift into 5th before 1.

You'd need more power, or another 5-10 mph min. speed in 12 before that makes sense I'd think.

Sorry for your troubles but the results were rather predictable here imo and not lame at all. No 6.5k redline motor is gonna live long being flogged *way* over 7k every 1 minute or so lap after lap. It is ok to run it out to the top of any gear and hold it but I'd never *hold* it right at the max redline with zero room. That alone will shorten a motor's life never mind over revs. You also downshift early which doesnt allow the revs to come down. Thats a nice feature about our rev match tech: you can downshift very late without worrying about locking up rears (if a heel and toe didnt match the revs properly). In addition your upshifts seem late too. There really is no reason to run it up beyond redline on upshifts. Unless you were on a last lap of a last race deciding a Monster Energy Cup championship Ricky Bobby

Just food for thought lest youll be going thru motors regularly and frequently. LT1 is one sweet power plant but it aint a race motor. And even it it were a red line is there for a reason. Sometimes pros are allowed to exceed it by say 200rpm in special cases. But that is usually way below 10+ % of the max revs. And if they did theyd likely lose the seat very quickly. Just sayin...

Doesn't the rev limiter prevent over rev?

Sure, if you accelerate it’ll bounce off the limiter.

If you downshift and let the clutch out when the car is over redline...not a lot the computer can do there, that’s purely mechanical.

I caught one time where he shifted down into third at 116 or so sending the engine up over 7,200 rpm. The engine being pushed by the car is not rev limited, it's only rev limited under it's own power.

TrackClub, I know you get that...just pointing out to those that don't.

Yes.. 100000000%
I usually go threw there 112/114.
Was only couple of sessions before this happened. First track day for the spring so was trying to knock off the rust

I appreciate all responses!

Stock Rev limiter was raised from. Stock 6600 to 6750

I do need to work on releasing the clutch on downshifting

And shift much closer to the turn in to let the revs go down.
