CT5 is supposed to be a tweener model like the 1st/2nd gen CTS, straddling the compact/midsize segments.

CT4 will be more CLA/2-series sized.

Are we ever going to hear anything about the 2019 GM midsize twins?

Sounds like everything is carryover from the Fleet brochure.

Rangers will be arriving early 2019, correct? GM should refresh the mid-size to coincide and steal some thunder with an upgraded ZR2 (Bison?). GM is expected to launch a new Colorado for MY 2022. Refresh it now. It is unprecedented to forgo MCE?

Agree. If they are skipping on the MCE, that seems like a risky move in my opinion. Keep the twins fresh to compete with the new Ranger.

Honestly, I think the current GM midsizers already compete well with the new Ranger. The only place (my opinion) they lack is in interior refinement and some features. Otherwise, drivetrain and chassis (and even exterior looks...again my opinion) they are competitive already.

But again, some small changes would be welcomed.

Well on that note, 0% APR for 72 months on Canyon right now.

Parents are considering picking one up.

Your link went to a story on the Hawaii volcano. Yahoo changes their lead stories every few minutes. Since you said "Morgan Stanley" I looked for stories from Adam Jonas, who follows the industry for Morgan Stanley. Here's the link... https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...can-car-market

I think Bloomberg overplayed what Jonas actually said. Jonas said that GM is already reducing the number of car offerings, and adding utilities and trucks. He never said they would go as far as FCA or Ford. He also pointed out that the auto companies are suggesting to Trump administration that if there continues to be two sets of regulations, expect the car companies to continue to walk away from "conventional" (ICE) cars in favor of vehicles that meet California standards (EVs). California standards are adopted by 16 other states, amounting to more than a third of all US vehicle sales.

My bad on the Kilauea story. I walked across it when I was 16 (August 1977). It erupted in September that year.

That's the link I should have posted. Thanks for your input.

I don't think GM will completely exit the passenger car market to the extent Ford has, but we'll see a drastic reduction in the number of offerings or end up with non-traditional cars, like Regal Sportback.

Fen whats the deal with the ATS? Are they really that bad or did the few people that had problems complain everywhere? I'm looking at buying a used Sedan in the 18,000$ range and the ATS was high on my list till I did some looking. Looks like I should stick with the 3.6L?(Which is what I wanted to begin with) I drove a 14 V6 yesterday and it seemed pretty nice. The price just seems pathetically low which is a win for me, but my Camaro is holding value better which surprises me... I'm looking at 14'-15' ATS's with only 20,000 miles on the odometer. Whoever bought these didn't drive them much.

I'd love to have a Chevy SS, but they haven't creeped down in price enough. And I need a vehicle now. :(

The SS is not going to creep down in price anytime soon in my opinion. Its like a rare jewel now...like a Pontiac G8 GXP. Look at the prices on those things. The SS is going to remain a highly valuable car.

A part of me wishes I'd have found a good slightly used model, or gotten one of those killer red tag deals on a new SS instead of my Camaro SS back when I got it....if it had the LT1 instead of the LS3, and/or slightly more aggressive or unique styling I'd really be kicking my own butt right now.
