Using HPTuners VCM Scanner without tune?

Can HPTuners VCM Scanner be used on a '17 Camaro (through MPVI2) without writing anything to the ECU? I would like to be able to data log some things, but I'm not ready to void the warranty with an ECU tune quite yet. Does using VCM Scanner require credits, or is that only for flashing?

Correct, you can log all you want. No different than scanning the computers with a auto parts store scanner.

Correct, the ECM/TCM has to be one of the ones that HP Tuners supports. When you connect the cable to the OBDII port and turn on the scanner app it will try and load the scanner parameters in if it supports the ECM/TCM.
