Exclamation Trunk motor burning out?

Unfortunately, my 16' 2SS is giving my wife issues while I'm a few states away. She said that the trunk wouldn't latch upon closing but she eventually persuaded it shut by being gentle with it. She reported seeing smoke and that now the trunk won't open, making the hole behind the seat the only way inside. My guess is the trunk motor burnt out on her.

Has anyone ever had this issue or know of a part number for this? Didn't see too much on the issue from a quick google search. Thanks in advance!

I haven't heard of one burning out but I guess that is possible. This is the part number I found online:

Trunk Lock Actuator Motor - GM (13513995)

did you ever find a reason for this?

I'm actually having the same issue now and it was bad enough to kill my battery in the process.
