This Sunday - track day at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway
I signed up to run this Sunday. Confirmed that I can camp there the night before, bring a cooler with all my food, plenty of water and hand sanitizer. I've been Jonesing for an autocross or track day.

The event was really fun, with only two run groups, and only about 10 cars in my open passing group. The event started early at 6:30, pretty much everyone was done by 1 p.m., tired and hot. Not bad - about 95 by the time I got out of there. I drove hard and other than getting a little soft, the brakes did fine. I don't think the track is too hard on the brakes - at least for a V6 car.
Got to run with a couple 5th Gen Z/28s, 4 GT3s, M2/M4s, and a Civic Type R. The only Mustang there, a GT350, had to quit early, and I think you can guess why. I wore out my tires, 275/40/18 Nexus NFera SUR4G, my second set of them and they are good. My top candidate for the next set is the Hankook RS4 in 285/35/18. I'd get the Yoko A052 in 295/35/18, but they're over twice as much as the Nexus and 60% more than the 'kooks. |
