Job to tell which way the wheels were pointing when I hit the kerb, which luckily is fairly low, wheels are not buckled.
Air bags did'nt blow,I assumed I did'nt have any!!
Impact was prob below 30 mph.

I hate to see such a nice car torn up like that. As others mentioned; next time hit the animal. Sounds cruel, but the truth is it's safer than swerving. Here in MN, deer on the road are not that unusual (hit one myself years ago) and law enforcement specifically states do not attempt swerve out of the way.

What a bummer! Sorry about the wreck. Shit happens, but you're ok, and that's what matters. Good luck fixing it up.

Sorry about that OP. Major bummer, but it's good that you are okay!

It's easy to say "don't swerve", but it all happens so fast and, for most of us, our desire to not kill a living creature is so strong that we'd likely swerve. It would be hard to just plow right over a deer, cat, etc. Having said that, I agree that we should not... better to kill a cat than yourself or someone else.

I am curious though...anyone here ever been in a similar situation and not swerved?

My Dad blasted a deer on his motorcycle and in his Silverado. It was either the deer or a row of trees, both times.

one of the best articles I ever read about vehicle control referred to " smoothness glue". Make every movement while behind the wheel as if your hands were stuck in glue. It has to be smooth, controlled and in small degrees, but can still be rapid, even panicked. You can can make a sudden, immediately complete lane change in this way without skidding and without being out of control.
It has saved me so many times, I don't even care to recall.

Yep. Hit a 6 point Buck last fall on my way to work with my Dually. If I went left I would have head-on'ed on coming traffic and if I went right I would have went down a 20 foot ditch filled with trees.

One of the girls in our office swerved to miss a Deer years back. Went over/through a field approach. Totaled her car, banged her up pretty good and was not considered and "act of God" since she did not make contact with the Deer.

I brake as safely as I can and go straight unless by chance I have a way out.

Mine is quite possibly the only one in England, which is why i have to rebuild it.
Glad to know that you are safe and everyone is alright. I wish you the best of luck on nursing the vicious beast back to health.
