Not in a Z nor a road course, but i was on street tires driving around the water pit at a drag strip and my rear driver tire caught some of the water... well, when i launched i spun really bad, hit the brakes just in time to not hit the wall... basically I was facing the wall, pretty embarrassing, friend caught it on video from his passenger camera, even worse lol.
another moment, no on my end for embarrassing, but i was in the water pit (drag radials, new set up, year later), and the mustang in front of me went too far up so he had to back up, well... as you can imagine, he forgot to put it back in 1st / drive so when he launched he launched in reverse, i saw it coming so i had put mine in reverse also, just in case.. luckily nothing happened

Mine was an 'oh shit and ****' moment.
We have roundabouts' in Europe at road intersections, which are incredibly tempting,to brush your up your drifting skills on!! However,I have now found out how badly I need to go to 'Drift School' I had gone 360deg' round this roundabout in 'Sport Mode' and thought I'd pull her hard left, then 'dab' the accelerator and counter steer her off the roundabout....like hell.....the back broke away in an uncontrollable fashion and I slammed into a public bench, cemented into the ground. £25,000 and 6 months later,I'm back and scouring the 'classifieds' for a 'Drifting course'. |

Wow..not drifting; but Ive found it VERY controlled. I did a 180° turn at 50mph; on a nice flat wide (7 lanes- i.e. nothing to hit) stretch of road, the Z pivoted around and in the last 110° - it was like the car had a pin helping act as the pivot point...the front swung right back to 180° in the opposite direction..and I was going like 50 to 55 mph the way I'd come from in the blink of an eye, no body roll, no weird behavior, just flat true cornering.. my friend who was with me (and owns a 911GT3RS) was astounded. The turning radius was less than the typical TR; as the car pivoted around.

585rwhp and 599rwtq was on a Mustang Dyno. On a Dynojet it would put up bigger #'s (over 600 for both). Doesn't really matter at this point as the car is better skilled than I am right now. My happiest moment so far has been beating my buddy who works for Porsche and is a Porsche instructor and I beat him by .5 second in his GT3-RS on the Roval at Fontana for the 8th best time out of 119 cars. That's freaking awesome!!
I'm doing very similar, almost exact mods, and I want a car I can grow into with skills, not grow out of and get bored and want a new car! I cannot wait for next week!

We are running pretty much the same mods. I also have the same short-shifter kit. Just added a 71inch APR GTC-250 Wing and run Hoosier R7 Slicks. One other mod I really like is the Auto-Blip Rev Match. Works great and makes down shifting seamless.
I will be running the car at Chuckwalla for the first time with the wing and looking forward to see how the car holds up next to my buddies ACR Viper. Auto Club Speedway is a fast track using part of the NASCAR track and puts a lot of stress on the car in turn 1 and 2 of the NASCAR turns. I believe I can get my time down to a 1:46 without dropping weight out of the car and that is with adding a cage and race seats and harness equipment. After I hit the 1:46 times it will be time to start stripping the car and dropping weight. Should be able to get over 300lbs out of it and then work on getting down to 1:44 as a goal. It might be pie in the sky right now as the ACR Viper is doing 1:41's and a stripped ZR1 is doing a 1:456 But as they say "No Guts - No Glory" Doane Last edited by Z/284TRK; 12-04-2016 at 01:28 AM. |

I tried to make my '85 Z/28 rental car fly over a canal bridge on Las Olas Blvd in Ft. Lauderdale. It did get airborne but the landing was not a 'ten'. National Rent-a-car was not amused.
