Exclamation Aftermarket Torque Converter Summary

So i just bought a 17 2SS A8 second hand and didn't detect any shudders/issues during a fairly extended test drive and did not find related service history/carfax reports but about a thousand miles out im starting to feel the shudder (with right around 20k miles on it) especially on inclines and normal highway speeds.

I've read through most of the threads here and it seems like going to the dealer is nothing more than a waste of time.

Couple questions with proceeding with an aftermarket fix for this:

1. Selecting an aftermarket torque converter from Circle D- which specific model/stall would be closest to stock street/hwy manners? I saw this one on most of the forums and I am not currently planning on adding any forced induction later on (couple bolt on mods, etc. if anything).

2. Is it necessary to unlock/re-tune the TCM?

3. Any other maintenance items that need to be taken care of during this installation (trans fluids, etc.)?

3. Bonus question - Are you guys aware of any decent GM performance shops in Seattle/Oregon that would do this type of work?

The early flush/fill wasn’t effective but the current flush procedure seems to be fixing the shudder for most people. It sounds like your car is still within the powertrain warranty period. If you’re just starting to feel the shudder then probably not much damage to the torque converter. Whether you keep or replace the TC you might want to get the flush just to fill the transmission with the latest fluid. It’s free under warranty.
