What HP Boost Using 100 Octane Unleaded?

Would filling up a the Track for a HPDE with 100 octane unleaded add any speed on a straightaway? When my times are more consistent it would be an easy thing to try. But I was wondering if the computer would allow for more advance or would it need to be programmed to take advantage of the higher octane?

Theoretically the ECM should allow a bit more dynamic advance and a bit higher AF ratio on 100 octane versus 93

Yes on the timing advance (up to whatever your high octane table calls for). No on the AF ratio. The PE enrichment table doesn’t change based on fuel octane, only ethanol content (assuming you setup the flex fuel table that way).

I'm pretty sure 100 octane won't add power, it will just prevent timing from being pulled due to spark knock from inferior fuel.

In fact some might argue 100 could reduce power from cooler combustion temps, and less peak cylinder pressure.

On a stock LT1, 100 is probably overkill. Some 93 with a splash of Boostane will probably let you keep full timing advance the vast majority of the time.

I had to put in half a tank of 100 when the pump at the track ran out of 93. I could not tell any difference in power the rest of the day. I talked to my mechanic who said it's fine to do but you're not going to see any extra power unless you're tuned for it. Our cars are tuned for max power using 93. Also the 100 was like $8 a gallon.

What Josh said above
My blown SS can keep up full timing advance in hot weather with a little octane booster (I use Race-Gas and blend to 95), a stock LT1 will definitely be even less fussy.

Yup, if you're not tuned for it you won't benefit from it.
