Car swiped in parking lot

Hello,

Yesterday my car got swiped by someone I guess trying to park in the spot next to me. Came back to my car an hour later and found my car like this. Looks like there are two small dents in the upper panel and a good gash in the lower panel. Went to get a few quotes and came back with $1,200 and $2,000. The higher quote mentioned a tech needed to reset the blind spot monitoring behind the panel.

Going to try to really clean and polish to see what it looks like but think I should just get insurance and pay the deductible and really research where to get it fixed. I've had the car for 7 years (55k miles) and intend on keeping it for at least another 7 years. Can live with it but may bite the bullet and get it done right. Just wondering if anyone else had something similar and how they proceeded?

I've attached the original picture and the one after cleaning it quickly.

PDR and touch up paint is what I can see there. A body shop will kill you on work like that, they want to repaint a panel, replace the bumper and so on, reason they told told you 1200-2000.
I would fully consider what an insurance claim could be on your premiums afterwards, too.

If it's just scuffed paint, find a refurbisher who will spot paint rather than a body shop. There's a company here called DENT WIZARD who have painted my wife's trunk and rear quarter panel area where she backed into our mailbox and then someone damaged the same area in a parking lot a month later. Cost way less than a body shop. Great result.

They primarily do touch up paint on front fascias for dealers.

This. Someone backed into my Silverado a few years ago overnight, leaving it down to bare metal where I assume where their hitch hit my bumper) and the cost to the premium wasn't worth the hassle of just paying out-of-pocket at a body shop.

I did the clay bar, polish, and wax and this is what it looks like now. I think I'll try to get the paint touched up and those small dents pulled out. I don't think its worth it to get a new bumper and a majority of the other panel painted for this little area. It would be at no fault so they said my insurance won't go up but I will have to pay the $1000 deductible.

I thought this was going to be a thread about a car getting stolen.

Ugh, sorry man, that's the worst thing to come out and see that someone hit your car and took off.

It doesn't look bad cleaned up. It would bug me if it was my car. I'd shop around at some body shops for a private-pay job. I bet they could do it for less than a grand.
