Issues with driver door speaker
I have the Boston acoustics speaker system. One day to the next my driver speaker emits no sound. A new speaker and amp did not fix it. Has anyone run into this problem? How was it fixed?
Edit: I’m realizing there’s no sound coming from the tweeter either.

It could be a few things. The output from the head unit.
But my money is on the door harness. I am on my 3rd door harness, but due to window and door lock issues, not speaker problems. Mine was due to moisture issues in the door jamb connector (X500 connector). Some of the pins corroded and the main ground wire that runs through that harness broke. You could pull your head unit and start running some continuity and voltage tests with a multimeter. Check at that speaker output, amp input/output, test the door harness, etc...

I run an aftermarket shop. I’ve had to replace countless speakers in GM vehicles. You could swap them side to side to see if the problem persists before buying parts

Also because he said 'I’m realizing there’s no sound coming from the tweeter either.' The tweeter in the BA systems are just spliced off of the main front speaker wires.

The tweeter in the non BA systems are also spliced off of the main front speaker wires.
It's either the radio, or the wires going into the door from the bulkhead connector. Inside the rubber accordion part. |

Say I do need a radio, is there anything special to installing a new one? As far as programming goes?

I’ve had this issue for the past 4-5 years. It would turn on randomly and shut off. Hit a bump, it’ll turn on then off again. Turn the volume knob up, and same thing. I was going to put in new speakers, but I gave up on it. Music to the right, and then sound of my cam, exhaust, and BOV to the left.

Probably a corroded door connector. They tend to get water in there causing this issue. As far as radio swap, it’s a little involved compared to other vehicles but not too bad.

Would the corrosion be obvious? I haven’t removed it from the door, but it looks dry and non corroded.
